Lance Archer would debut for AEW in March 2020 being revealed as Jake 'The Snake' Roberts client. Archer would have his first match for the company in April defeating Marko Stunt on Dynamite. Archer would be a part of the AEW TNT Championship tournament defeating Colt Cabana and Dustin Rhodes before losing to Cody Rhodes in the finals at Double Or Nothing 2020. He would continue getting wins following this loss and in September at the All Out pay per view he would win the Casino Battle Royale becoming #1 contender for the AEW World Championship. He would get his shot against Jon Moxley on Dynamite but would lose.
He would turn face in November when he helped Death Triangle against The Butcher and The Blade and Eddie Kingston. At Winter Is Coming Archer and The Lucha Brothers would lose to Kingston, Butcher and The Blade. Archer would be a part of the 2021 face of the revolution ladder match but wouldn't win. Archer would face Miro at Double Or Nothing for the TNT Championship but would again come up short. Archer would go on to defeat Jon Moxley to become IWGP United States Champion and would successfully defend the title at Fight For The Fallen 2021 against Hikuleo.
Archer would turn heel again after aligning himself with a debuting Minoru Suzuki. Archer would compete in a tournament for an AEW World Championship shot but would get injured and would be sidelined for months. Archer would return in early 2022 attacking Adam Page and getting Jake Roberts back as his manager but would be unsuccessful in capturing the AEW World Championship.
