김건희 여사, 한-아프리카 문화적•정서적 공통점 강조, 시에라리온 성폭력 및 조혼 대응 지원 요청 '적극 검토하겠다'
First Lady Kim Keon Hee emphasized cultural and social solidarity between Korea and Africa as she hosted the spouses of leaders attending the two-day multilateral summit.
On Tuesday, Kim held a cultural program and luncheon at the presidential palace of Cheong Wa Dae, for her counterparts from 13 African nations including Mauritania, Eswatini, Mozambique, Madagascar, and Kenya.
Kim noted the cultural and emotional similarities between Korea and Africa, given their experience of overcoming war and colonial rule.
She highlighted the influence of Africa's primitive art on modern artists, including expressionist abstract art, as an example of how Africa has the potential to become the center of global economic and cultural development.
The First Lady of Sierra Leone Fatima Jabbe-Bio requested support in campaigning against sexual violence against women and child marriages to which Kim said she sympathized and would actively consider ways that she could cooperate.
