Chris Winkler of Portland recently completed a cross-country trip on his bike: Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine. Winkler and his wife Cheryl started their trek at Fort Stevens State Park on the Oregon Coast in mid-June. The entire route took them 69 days and spanned 3,800 miles. Cheryl drove their RV and Chris rode alongside it. Chris said his favorite part of the adventure was meeting new people in states around the country. They tried to visit as many restaurants as they could along the way, to get to know people in different small towns. When the couple arrived in Maine, four of their five children had flown in to surprise Chris as he finished his ride.
