58 Sailing ships from numerous countries took part in OPERATION SAIL 1974 a regatta starting in Copenhagen to the Bay of Gdansk. Spectators watched under umbrellas and rain coats. Prizes were distributed by Professor Henryk JABLONSKI Chairman of the Council of State and Vice-Premier Kazimierz OLSSZEWSKI. OPERATION SAIL 74 was closed by a naval parade on the waterss of the Bay of Gdansk. It was opened by the flag ship, the biggest sailing boat nowadays the Soviet 'Krusenstern'. The big ships were followed by smaller boats. Some 700 boats participating in this magnificent display.
