The Twin Peaks season 1 pilot episode changed TV forever. Even people who are Twin Peaks fans recognize the impact the show made on television as we know it. David Lynch and Mark Frost wrote the first episode with Lynch as the director. We learn about the murder of Laura Palmer, meet the characters from the town of Twin Peaks, and meet our protaganist Special Agent Dale Cooper of the FBI.
Season 1 of Twin Peaks is numbered in a strange way. The pilot is s1 episode 1 but depending on what you read the next episode is referred to as episode 1. Either way this where the Twin Peaks story begins, and we see Agent Cooper arrive to investigate Laura's murder.
We meet a variety of characters in the first episode of Twin Peaks including Sheriff Harry S. Truman, Deputy Andy, Lucy, Doc Hayward, Josie Packard, Pete Martell, Catherine Martell, Bobby Briggs, Donna Hayward, James Hurley, Big Ed Hurley, Norma Jennings, the Log Lady, Audrey Horne, Ben Horne, Doctor Jacoby, and many more. Everyone in the town is affected by Laura's murder in some way, especially her parents Leland and Sarah Palmer.
The Twin Peaks story continues from there with the audience trying to figure out who killed Laura Palmer. The table is set and the mystery is front and center.
