In this video, a former California prosecutor explains the penalties for a "credit card fraud" conviction, and the best legal defenses for fighting the case.
Typically instances of credit card fraud and prosecuted either as forgery or under theft laws (as either petty theft or grand theft). As a misdemeanor, this carries 6 months to a year in county jail. As a felony, it carries up to 3 years county jail or state prison.
However, many innocent people do get wrongly arrested for credit card fraud. Many times the person was acting in good faith with no intent to deceive or defraud anyone. A good criminal defense attorney can often intervene and help get these charges reduced or dismissed.
