The Supreme Court of India will pronounce its verdict on the powers of the Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. It will also look into the broad spectrum of powers that had been granted to the central agency under the aforementioned act. The court will pass a ruling on the powers of ED under the amended act that was challenged by almost 250 petitions. The judgment by the bench of Justices Dinesh Maheshwari, CT Ravi, and AM Khanwilkar will have major aftermath on opposition leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Farooq Abdulla, to name a few, who are facing ED heat in recent times.
