Using the Auto (default) mode, depending on the grind setting, the machine will extract somewhere between 40-60 grams, which I usually find watered down and unpleasant in aftertaste. The longer the extraction, the more diluted the shot will turn out.
The Manual mode helps keep my favourite brew ratio in check (dose of ground coffee relative to the amount of liquid espresso in the cup). With the help of a precision scale, I can easily track and stop the extraction once the ideal amount of espresso has been achieved.
