(12 May 2018) KENDALL JENNER GLITTERS AT STAR-STUDDED CHOPARD PARTY; CAROLINE SCHEUFELE SAYS 'WRONG TO PINPOINT' WEINSTEIN
Kendall Jenner knows the secret to a great party entrance: arrive fashionably late.
The supermodel and social media star arrived in Cannes Friday (11 MAY 2018) for luxury jewelry designer Chopard's annual party, where she posed for photographers in a revealing sequin dress.
The theme of this year's party? Secrets. Hosted in a private villa high in the Cannes hills, guests were transported to the mystery location for a surprise dinner, glamorous after party, and treated to an exclusive performance from Enrique Iglesias.
Among the stars at the event: actresses Marion Cotillard, Julianne Moore and Lupita Nyong'o, and models including Petra Nemcova, Josephine Skriver, Elsa Hosk, Irina Shayk and Sara Sampaio – all sporting the finest Chopard bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
Of course, this is the first Cannes Film Festival since allegations of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry made headlines in late 2017.
Speaking on the arrivals line for the party, Chopard President Caroline Scheufele praised the MeToo and Time's Up movements that have emerged in response to the crisis.
"I think it was about time," she said. "Like we say, it's time."
However, Scheufele, who knows Harvey Weinstein – the disgraced film producer and Cannes regular who has been accused of harassment by more than 70 women – also says it's wrong to focus solely on him.
"I know Harvey and I maybe, what all of that happened is not, is not only him, it's just so many other people," she said. "Pinpoint him but it's maybe wrong in my opinion."
Nemcova, meanwhile, said "the MeToo campaign has really shaped not just the entertainment industry but the world."
"There has been a movement to empower women the last few years, even before MeToo campaign," said the 38-year-old Czech.
"You could see it with the different leaders taking positions in presidents or prime minister females but it was not enough. So MeToo actually has pushed that forward."
