4. Grandhotel Giessbach
This hotel is open to everyone and can easily be visited from Interlaken via boat tour en route to Brienz. It sits on a hill overlooking Lake Brienz and is located within a 22-hectare park.
The Geissbach waterfalls is a sight to see from the hotel grounds. You’re welcome to hike closer and even behind the waterfalls on different platforms.
Open seating is available on the patio so you just take a seat and then order snacks or light lunch at the counter. We took advantage of this during our visit and enjoyed the beautiful waterfalls next to us.
The funicular is on private land so the Swiss Travel Pass is invalid here. It costs 12 CHF for an adult round trip ticket. Alternatively, you’re welcome to hike up to the hotel through a designated trail (about 15-20 mins).
This was a film location for CLOY and also used as a pit stop in Amazing Race season 31.
