A Black Lives Matter protester who carried an injured counter-protester to safety during clashes between rival demonstrators in London described the "hectic" scene on Sunday.
"It was almost like a stampede", Patrick Hutchinson said in an interview after images of him carrying the injured man were shared on social media.
Hutchinson said the man's life was "under threat" when he picked him up and carried him towards police while his friends formed a barrier around him.
The personal trainer reflected on his intervention and said he dreaded to think what would have happened if he and his friends hadn't intervened.
"If the other three police officers who were standing around when George Floyd was murdered had thought about intervening like what we did, George Floyd would be alive today.", Hutchinson said.
More than 100 people were arrested amid the clashes in London on Saturday after far-right counter-protesters gathered to “guard” historical monuments that have been targeted recently by anti-racism protesters for their links to slavery and British colonialism.
