This Spice Sunday we highlight Cumin. A foundational spice in many Indian, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean dishes. In all it's forms (cumin seeds, cumin powder, roasted cumin seeds, and roasted cumin powder) it provides an earthy, bitter, yet sweet flavor to any savory dish. Rich in antioxidants and regulatory digestive properties, the health benefits of this spice are just another bonus!
Instructions on Roasting Cumin Seeds:
1. Roast cumin on a dry pan over medium heat for 10 minutes
2. Remove pan from heat and allow seeds to rest in pan for 5 minutes
3. Allow seeds to completely cool before grinding with a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
