Today we drive Colorado's Gold Belt Loop from Florence Co to Victor Co. It's all part of the Gold Belt Scenic Byway. As we drive north thru the beautiful Phantom Canyon Road we learn about the origins of this spectacular passage. We start out in the town of Florence Colorado, home of the infamous SuperMax Prison. We drive north into the canyon where I realize I've been here before. It's funny how the second time is better because ya learn the history of the area and understand why it was built in the first place.
