Produced by Maltex Corporation as part of a brilliant lobbying strategy to the Star League, the Assassin was a highly successful medium battlemech. Although it was marketed as the replacement for the Wasp and Stinger, it never really made that goal. Despite it's success on the battlefield on a few hundred Assassin's were ever made prior to the clan invasion. As such the 'mech is extremely rare in the 3025-3050 period.
