Two developments in the recent past have pointed fingers at academic freedom in India. One, when Ashoka University Professor Sabyasachi Das resigned after his paper on "possible manipulation in 2019 polls" received massive backlash on social media and the University distanced itself from the controversy.
Second, Unacademy educator Karan Sangwan was fired from his job after a clip of his teaching video went viral in which he is seen advising students to elect "educated candidates".
The two instances pose the question- Is Academic Freedom shrinking in India?
