Tamarind rasam is a staple south Indian food. It is full of nutrients and takes no time to cook. With the step by step method shown in this recipe, you can easily replicate the rasam without tomato.
Ingredients
• ½ cup cooked toor dal
• 1 lemon size tamarind
• 2 teaspoons of jaggery
• 1 teaspoon of Urad Dal
• ½ teaspoon methi seeds
• 2 teaspoons of rasam powder
• 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds/Jeera
• 1 teaspoon of Turmeric/Haldi
• 1 garlic clove
• 2 teaspoons of mustard seeds
• ½ teaspoon red chili powder
• Water
• Oil
• Salt to Taste
Recipe- Steps To Follow
1. Put the flame to medium-high. Add 4 teaspoons of oil to the pot
2. Once the oil is hot; add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, hing, methi seeds, garlic clove, red chili powder, rasam powder, turmeric.
3. Add the cooked toor dal and mix well
4. Add water and mix well.
5. Add jaggery and mix well
6. Add more water as needed
7. Boil for 5-7 minutes
8. Rasam is ready.
9. Serve hot with rice.
