The Dayak Iban community has fought off the destruction of their primary forest for 4 decades, even though they don't have legal rights to the forest. They've defended their lands from illegal logging, palm oil production and other corporate interests. The community's efforts have protected an estimated 1.31 million tons of carbon, according to the UNDP. In this video, Mongabay founder Rhett Butler travels to meet the Dayak Iban in Kalimantan Indonesia. The community recently won the Equator Prize.
