If all goes well, Chandrayaan 3 will successfully land on the moon’s South Pole on August 23. This will be a boost to India’s space sector. ISRO’s lunar mission is however not the first time that man tried to explore the moon. It started in 1959 when Soviet spacecraft Luna 2 becomes the first to reach the moon’s surface. From there on, there are several attempts made by different countries for a successful lunar landing. Here is the timeline.
