The country's organised labour has urged Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana to prioritise measures to cushion the working class from economic hardships.

They will be looking to the October Mid-Term Budget Policy Statement for relief measures for the working class to ensure that labour is shielded from the impact of government's cost containment plans.

The Finance Minister will deliver his 2024 Medium-Term budget speech in Cape Town on Wednesday, October 30.

Public sector workers have now revised their wage demand from 12% to 7,5% amid assertions of a bloated public sector wage bill.
