The Flood by Korine Fujiwara and Stephen Wadsworth presented by Ruth Peart.
The Flood, composed by Korine Fujiwara and libretto by Stephen Wadsworth premiered in Columbus, Ohio on 8 February 2019. The opera is based on the true event of the Great Flood of 1913. It tells the story of a family through multiple generations and how the flood impacted, and still impacts them today.
Ruth Peart has studied voice for fifteen years with various teachers and has been a part of many choral organizations. She has performed with the Columbus Children's Choir, New World Singers touring in Spain, Austria, Hungary, performed at the White House and Carnegie Hall. Ruth is currently a junior at The Ohio State University studying vocal performance with Dr. C Andrew Blosser and is an active member of the School of Music's Chorale and Women's Glee Club. Ruth is also a member of The Ohio State University's Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society. She is a recipient of the Margaret Speaks Vocal Scholarship (2018) and the Women's Glee Club Scholarship (2018, 2019) from The Ohio State University.
On the Stage Together is a YouTube series created by Ohio State’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota celebrating diversity and inclusion in music. Performances include works by female and BIPOC composers, while lectures and discussions surround topics of diversity and inclusion in music.
