The Golden Gate Bridge could have looked very different!

The Golden Gate Bridge is famous for its colour, but it could have looked very different.
The US Navy wanted the bridge to be painted in black and yellow stripes to make it more visible in fog.
The bridge's architect Irving Morrow thought that yellow and black would be ugly and chose International Orange instead.
