Neurosurgeon, Dr. Christopher Farrell of Jefferson Health explains the type of brain tumor treatment and surgery options available for patients, whether their testing outcomes are benign or malignant.
Dr. Farrell explains that cancerous or malignant tumors start in the brain and create a faster destruction. Type of tumors, or benign tumors, such as meningioma grow fast and are treated via imaging surveillance to determine if they are growing or progressing. Other times brain tumor surgery is conducted to remove the tumor fully or partially.
As for treatment options, radiation therapy for brain tumors is another popular form of treatment that is used to slow or stop the growth of the mass and decreases the risk of recurrence.
