Martabak originates from Yemen and later spread to various countries, including Indonesia. In Arabic, martabak is known as "mutabbaq," which means "folded."
In Indonesia, martabak has been adapted to suit local tastes. There are two main types:
1. Sweet Martabak - This version is uniquely Indonesian and not found in Yemen.
2. Savoury Martabak - This is more similar to the original from the Middle East but with added Indonesian flavors.
Martabak has become one of the most popular dishes in various regions across Indonesia.
