A so-called "bomb cyclone" arrived in the Pacific Northwest Tuesday, bringing with it rain, wind, and mountain snow. Many agencies across the region are preparing for the storm that's expected to ramp up overnight into Wednesday morning.
At least 519,200 power outages were reported across the region as of 8:30 p.m. A high wind warning or wind advisory was in effect for most of the Puget Sound region through early Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service also issued a blizzard warning for the Cascades until Wednesday morning.
Pass travel is expected to be difficult to dangerous at times over the next 24 hours. The weather service said the Cascade passes could see between 3-7 inches of total snow accumulations by Wednesday morning, with wind gusts as high as 50 mph.
