Pusat Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Aceh mendirikan enam unit tanggap konservasi yang tersebar di sejumlah kabupaten yang memiliki catatan konflik antara manusia dan gajah Sumatera.
Salah satu unit tanggap konservasinya berada di Kecamatan Sampoiniet, Aceh Jaya, Aceh. Selain untuk meredakan konflik antara manusia dan hewan, gajah-gajah terlatih ini juga menjadi daya tarik wisata bagi wisatawan lokal maupun mancanegara.
