LIVE: Bomb Cyclone Hits Parts of US, Leaves Thousands Without Power
A bomb cyclone battered Washington state, leaving hundreds of thousands without power, disrupting travel, and causing at least two deaths and two injuries. The tropical-storm-force winds, reaching 50 mph (80 km/h) with gusts up to 70 mph (110 km/h), uprooted trees and knocked down power lines across western Washington, southwest Oregon, and Northern California. More than 600,000 homes and businesses were affected. The Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue service advised residents to stay home due to downed trees and power lines. Bomb cyclone is expected to stall over Northern California, bringing up to 20 inches (50 cm) of rain in parts of southwestern Oregon and Northern California.
