The Thursday of the gala was intended to feature the two visiting engines 92 Squadron and Sir Keith Park plus, fresh from overhaul, BR Standard 5 73156 posing as 73083 Tintagel. As 92 Squadron had been delayed by essential maintenance work its roster was worked by Stanier 8F 48624. Unfortunately the disruption to the programme didn't end there as the Standard 5 was involved in an incident at Leicester North following its first run from Loughborough. It then retired to the shed yard and its place was taken by spare engine 46521 but not before I had videoed it leaving Loughborough on the ill fated first run. Whilst visiting the shed there was a bonus as 46521 hauled a train of engines in light steam, comprising Witherslack Hall, 47406 and 92 Squadron, up the yard which was reminiscent of scenes at Crewe in the fifties when engines were hauled from the works to the sheds. In spite of the disruption to the locomotive roster the timetable was maintained and a very enjoyable day resulted. For the closing day video see: [ Ссылка ]
