Our back teeth, aka molars 🦷 have grooves on the chewing surfaces. Food can easily get stuck in the grooves and they will be more difficult to clean, especially for younger children. In fact, these grooves are one of the most common places for cavities to develop in school-age children 😱
•
Sealants work as protective coatings, covering these grooves on the back teeth. They can prevent the food from getting stuck in the grooves, thereby lowering the risk of getting cavities in molar teeth. In fact, studies show that sealants can protect against 80% of cavities in the back teeth 🤩👏🏻. According to the CDC, “school-age children without sealants have almost 3 times more cavities than children with sealants”. Sealants are very easy to place, quick, and most importantly, they are painless to apply 👍🏻 In this video, we will learn how to place sealants together! 😍🙌🏻
