Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has begun an 11-day penance at Sri Venkateshwara Swami Temple in Guntur, in response to the alleged adulteration of the sacred Tirupati Laddu. The controversy continues as beef and pig fat were allegedly found in the offering. Former Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing current Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu of malicious propaganda. Naidu has blamed Reddy for the contamination and vowed to cleanse all temples in Andhra Pradesh.
