President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graces the 90th anniversary of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) at the Manila Hotel in the City of Manila on October 30, 2024.
Carrying the theme ‘Charity: A National Focus,’ today’s event coincides with the National Day of Charity declared by the President through Proclamation No. 598 on 13 June 2024, which aims to raise awareness and encourage individuals and groups to implement charitable initiatives and philanthropic activities that can enrich community ties, improve other people’s well-being and impact lives tangibly. As the government’s charity arm, PCSO supervises the observance of the National Day of Charity.
The President leads the unveiling and presentation of the PCSO’s 90th anniversary commemorative stamp, as well as the awarding and recognition of institutional partners for their unwavering support to the PCSO in fulfilling its mission of serving the Filipino people.
Since its creation on 30 October 1934, the PCSO has been the principal government agency for raising funds through sweepstakes, races and lottery games for funding of health programs, medical assistance, conduct of free medical and dental services, establishment of an out-patient clinic, and partnerships with qualified government and non-government welfare institutions/agencies that promote the well-being of the marginalized sectors across the country.
