Watches of Switzerland have acquired Hodinkee. Now being the sole owner of the biggest watch news, watch media publication. I have so many thoughts and concerns about this. For 1. The BIGGEST WATCH MEDIA HOUSE IS NOW OWNED BY A WATCH RETAILER. Well, actually, that doesn't sound too far off of what Hodinkee was trying to do. But still. One of the largest watch retailers is now the sole owner of Hodinkee. What does this mean for watch journalism? Can we trust them as a source of information?
I shop with Watches of Switzerland - I have only ever had amazing experiences with Watches of Switzerland - and I read Hodinkee. I am skeptical of Hodinkee and take them with a giant grain of salt - but still - I love the Dinks! I find this move to be a bit concerning and this video just outlines what is happening and my thoughts.
