According to Guyana’s Constitution, this outcome required that general elections be held within three months to establish a new government.
However, instead of adhering to the constitutional mandate, the APNU+AFC government engaged in several attempts to delay or undermine the electoral process.
As a result, elections were delayed for over a year.
