Reviewing Google's Pixel 8 Pro in 2024, six months after launch, to see if it's the best camera phone - or straight-up flagship smartphone. Vs rivals like the Samsung S24 Ultra and OnePlus 12, the Pixel 8 Pro isn't quite as impressive. Gaming isn't as fluid or satisfying, for one, with that Tensor G3 stuffed inside.
However, Google's Pixel exclusive features and AI tools help to elevate it above many other premium phones. And then there's the excellent camera, which is perfect for point-and-shoot action. You can capture RAW images, but the Pixel 8 Pro can spaff out gorgeous photos all on its own, while the editing tools are excellent.
Likewise, I've had no complaints with the battery life. The Pixel 8 Pro is just as strong as other Androids, offering two days of use between charges if you're careful - or a full day of heavy use including lots of camera play. And while those AI features are still developing, they're certainly a worthy addition to an excellent suite of Google tools.
So that's my long term thoughts of the Pixel 8 Pro in 2024. But what do you think? Let us know your own review of this Google smartphone below if you've been using it!
