Well this is when I heard and saw Eric Gales for the first time. 5 years ago at the Beale St. Music Festival at the Gibson Guitar Showcase. Before this I was stuck on Jimi Hendrix. I learned most of his songs by this time and my ex told me I had to see this guy she went to high school with. I didn't want to go, but my ex went to high school with him and she knew how much I loved Jimi. She was a musician herself, and she told me about this dude named Eric Gales. I was like who?? Never heard of him before...So she convinced me to go and see this guitar player I never heard of. Glad I did...This is just audio I found on the internet, but I was there. Out of all the Little Wing covers I seen him do, this is my favorite. I never will forget it. I was sitting in my chair paralized. It is one thing hearing and watching videos on youtube, but when you are there, like I was that night, it is a whole nother experience. Especially when he is right... I just started playing guitar around that time and I didn't play or practice for 2 months after seeing him that night. Although I've gotten better at it since then, I am not as serious as I used to be with it. Maybe because I stopped trying to play like Jimi Hendrix and started to try to play like Eric Gales, lol, and I couldn't... So I just do me.... I sound more like John Frusciante and a local pastor here in Memphis, who is/was my teacher, more than anybody else whenever I do play..
