Meknes is a city in the middle of Morocco and is the capital of the Meknès prefecture of the same name, in the Meknès-Tafilalet region. The city has 536,232 inhabitants. The city is located on a plain not far from the Atlas Mountains and the city of Fez. It is one of the four royal cities of Morocco, together with Fez, Marrakesh and Rabat
