If this doesn't whet your appetite for some Rocky Mountain ramblin', nothing will. Whetstone Vista Trail is .8 miles and rated moderate to difficult. It is accessed from Upper Upper Loop east from the junction of Skyland Access Trail and Upper Upper. The terrain is challenging in the beginning before branching off on the right and becoming Whetstone. The downhill is pretty short and rocky and sometimes loose. It is not too technical as the rocks are small and easy to roll over. This trail has beautiful views during the fall when the aspen leaves have changed and goes past wildflower blooms in the summer.
The mountain biking in Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley is unparalleled. The vast trail system features 150-plus trails spanning over 750 miles, and includes mellow rides for beginners as well as the gnarliest, most adventurous singletrack you'll ever encounter.
