Green Party Leader Elizabeth May announced on Monday, Nov. 4 she was stepping down as leader of the party and appointed deputy Jo-Ann Roberts as interim leader.
May said she had promised her daughter she would step down as leader at some point after the 2019 election and wants to ensure there is a leader in place before the next time Canadians head to the polls.
She said she would remain as the party's leader in the House of Commons and would get involved in terms of the leadership race, for which the convention would take place early October 2020.
