Everyone knows what a dump truck is and is supposed to do. But how many people can name all the types and tell what each kind is specially designed to do. (If you are interested in the history of the dump truck, please see my video on the garbage truck which covers the history of the dump truck)
Of course, you all know that the common names for dump trucks are dump truck, dumper truck or tipper truck. The main use for a dump truck is obvious: it is to move bulk commodities from one place to another and deposit the material.
A typical dump truck is equipped with an open-box bed, which is hinged at the rear and equipped with hydraulic rams to lift the front, allowing the material in the bed to be deposited (“dumped”) on the ground behind the truck at the site of delivery.
That’s the basics.
There are 13 distinct kinds of popular commercial dump trucks. And that is a lot for 1 video so I’m gonna make this a 2 part video.
