Just what is a gimbal? The simple answer is that it is a camera stabiliser. It allows you to get nice smooth video when handheld and also do other things like track your subject and even use it to create photographic panoramas. Gimbals are reasonably priced and can come with built in cameras or there are some designed to take your smartphone like an iPhone or Android. Some are designed to take other cameras like GoPros.
