The Xterra was taking a little longer to start than usual. Usually a sign of a bad fuel pump, relay or sensor.
Used a OBD Scan tool and found P0345. Which means the Bank 2 cam position sensor was faulty.
Bank 2 means the side of the engine where CYLINDER #2 is is located. In the 2009 Nissan Xterra, that is the right or driver side of the engine. Sensor is in the back of the engine on top just before the firewall.
All you need is a 10mm wrench. Highly recommend A ratcheting wrench with a flexible head. Will make the job way easier, because there isn't much room for a ratchet!
This sensor lets the Engine Control Unit(ECU) know the position of the camshafts in relation to the crank. It allows the ECU to control the timing of the engine. This vehicle has two cam sensors, if either stops working, your engine will stop running and/or won't start.
