What is a PLC Watchdog Timer?
A watchdog timer will generally specify the amount of time for the programmable logic controller (PLC) to scan. If this value is exceeded,
the controller will immediately transition to STOP mode, and an error message will appear in the System Information log,
and the error LED on the front of the controller will be ON.
The Do-more PLC family has Hardware and Software Watchdog Timer settings. The Software Watchdog Timeout specifies the maximum amount of time (in milliseconds) to allow for a single scan in the controller to run.
A Hardware Watchdog Timeout happens when the operating system stops running for more than 2 seconds, and the Do-more CPU is put into safe mode.
The Force Watchdog Error (WATCHDOG) instruction generates a software or hardware watchdog error condition so that you can verify the emergency shutdown conditions are being correctly handled by the project currently running in the Do-more controller.
