A new issue regarding the construction of a dam over river Cauvery has created problems between the government of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The water war between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has resumed again. Now the issue is regarding the construction of the Makedatu dam across river Cauvery. Chief Minister of Karnataka has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in which he has offered bilateral talks to resolve the long-pending issue while mentioning that the dam will not hamper the flow of water to the state of Tamil Nadu. However, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is not convinced and has urged Chief Minister Yediyurappa to stop the project as it will hamper the flow of water and will go against the farmers of the state. Tamil Nadu government has also seemed centre's intervention to resolve the issue.
