Today’s yoga class covers how to set an intention or sankalpa in a yoga class. We do this by coming into connection with your body, your thoughts, your emotions, your energy and what is happening in your life. From there I go through what sankalpa is and how to set intention. The yoga poses in today’s class open your awareness to your body, your breath, your mind, and allow you to let go of striving. Standing yoga postures connect you with the reason why you come to your yoga mat. The yoga postures also open your heart center and connect you to the deeper reasons for your yoga practice and allow you to connect to your true nature. Seated twists and forward folds allow you to become more introspect and hear that quiet voice from within.
There is always intention behind every action - it is important that we bring awareness to our motivations when we practice our yoga. We have an opportunity to connect to deep seated intentions each time we practice - to connect to something deeper within ourselves. We can ask ourselves, how is my yoga practice going to help me better understand myself? Being clear on the reason behind why we are on our yoga mat helps us to connect with our most inspired Self. Intention allows us to align our personal will with our deeper needs.
