Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archive. Recorded in 1999, DJ 'S' from Pure Silk with B-Live, also known as Evil B on Drum & Bass scene from the Rude FM days in the mid 90s. B-Live is actually Evil B back to front, pretty genius.
B-Live was signed to Passion For Music Records and was resident MC at Masquerades @The Opera House, Tottenham, in London, during the 90s. He later became the top of bill for practically every big UK Garage event, Pure Silk, Sun City, La Cosa Nostra, Exposure, Garage Nation, Club Sidewinder, Garage Fever, License 2 Rave, Juicy, Delirious, Frisky and many other big name events from that era. They were exciting times for the young rising star. MC B-Live would become one of the scenes top MCs, collecting all the awards and accolades he continued to make a name for himself nationwide and aboard in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. He also featured on UK Garage Mix CDs from that era. Many years later in the late 2000s with evolution of UK Garage to Grime/Dubstep MC B-Live fronted one of Grime's biggest clashes with his onslaught against Lethal B (Lethal Bizzle) for appropriation of the phrase "POW" on his UK Chart topping single, Forward Riddim (2004) which also sparked a bitter feud with other Grime Originals like MC God's Gift, Trim and Wiley against Lethal B, releasing their venomous send off "Pow Back" . Shortly after that MC B-Live decided to go back to his DNB roots switching his name back round to Evil B. In recent years has gained a lot of success with the formation of Problem Central, with the legendary MC Eksman, along with DJ Logan D and DJ Majistrate (Low Down Deep Recordings). In 2019, he was featured on a track with Skepta 'Love Me Not' ft. Cheb Rabi & B Live.
DJ 'S' had featured on Y2K FM 90.6 as well in the early 2000s holding down a regular prime time slot on that station. He was the resident DJ at Pure Silk and was involved in its promotion.
Note that Pure Silk is one the biggest Garage raves of that era. They also had the Pure Silk Records label, boasting UK chart topping success on several occasions, releasing tracks like: Richie Dan - Call It Fate, Antonio & Lee - I Believe I Can Fly, Jocelyn Brown - Somebody Else's Guy, Dionne Rakeem - Sweeter Than Wine, and many more. Also releasing garage mix CDs:
- Pure Silk Garage - Mixed by DJ 'S' Featuring MC Ranking Live - 2000
- Pure Silk: The Third Dimension - Includes Clubbers Mix By DJ 'S' & MC Creed - 2000
- Pure Silk In Ayia Napa - Mixed By Mikee B of The Dreem Team & DJ 'S' & MC CKP - 2000
