In this lesson we'll take a brief look at deceleration and braking methods employed by motor drives. We'll examine coasting or free spin to stop, spring applied electrically released friction brakes, DC injection braking, and two types of dynamic braking: regenerative braking and dynamic braking making use of braking resistors. Additionally, we'll compare and contrast these methods and discuss scenarios befitting a combination or variation of the above deceleration and braking techniques. (Full Lecture)
