Move over Manassas, the first land battle of the American Civil War was actually fought in Philippi, West Virginia almost two months earlier! Garry Adelman is joined by Rick Wolfe of the Rich Mountain Battlefield Foundation to discuss this little known action, which played a big part in West Virginia becoming its own state in 1863.
