Police forces across Europe are searching for a Tunisian man in connection with the terror attack on a Christmas market in Berlin.
Officials in Germany say the suspect, who was known to security agencies,... is armed and dangerous.

After finding a residence document under the driver's seat of the truck that ploughed through a Christmas market in the German capital, authorities are now searching across Europe to find 24-year-old Anis Amri.

The federal prosecutor's office has offered a reward of up to 100-thousand euros for information leading to the capture of the suspect, who has been described as armed and dangerous.

Amri was reportedly already being monitored on suspicions he was planning a robbery in order to buy guns for an attack, but surveillance was lifted due to lack of evidence.

Before entering Germany, he served four years for arson in Italy and faced a jail sentence in Tunisia.

He reportedly came to Germany in July last year and had his application for asylum turned down.
He was facing deportation as of June, but there was a delay in receiving paperwork from his home country.

The interior ministry select committee said Amri’s name had last been raised with Germany's Centre for Terror Defence last month due to his links with Salafist Abu Walaa, an Iraqi Islamic State supporter who was arrested in the northern town of Hildesheim in November.

A police notice has listed six different aliases used by Amri, who at times tried to pass himself off as Egyptian or Lebanese.

The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying one of its soldiers had carried out orders to target coalition countries. But no evidence was given.

As the search for Amri speeds up, Christmas markets across Berlin began to reopen on Wednesday.
However, shop keepers and security forces are remaining vigilant for possible further attacks ahead of the Christmas weekend.
