More than 75 years ago, Heuer was approached by American retailer Abercrombie & Fitch to design a watch that would allow hunters, fishermen, and sailors to determine the best times of day for their chosen sport based on the position of the moon and changing tides. This tide indicator would eventually make its way into the three-register chronograph, known as the Seafarer.
Today, this data can be easily accessed via the internet, but there is something charming about having the information right there on your wrist. We take a closer look at the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee to understand the history of the tide indicator and take a deeper dive into just how this complication works.
