In this episode of the Co-design Health podcast, Pieter Vandekerckhove speaks with Mark Van Achter (experience expert), Nel Kleverlaan (President Kankerspoken), Ruocha Wang (MSc Integrated product design), Dr. Josée Zijlstra (Prof. dr. Josée Zijlstra-Baalbergen, VUMC). They explore what the challenges are for young parents with cancer and their children from different perspectives. They also discuss current solutions and jump to the future and imagine possible solutions. Some important solutions are: discuss with the parents the parent-child relationship and provide moments of interaction if possible, collaboration and sharing knowledge between pediatric and adult hematology and oncology teams, provide childcare for children in the department or closeby, provide overnight solutions for partners to stay over with children.
If you are in treatment, please discuss any issues about your relationship with your child, children or partner with your treating healthcare professional.
