In this edition of Monster Energy HEAT CHECK, we sit down with breakdance guru Moy Rivas, a.k.a. BBoy Moy. A leader in both the educational and competitive aspect of dance and someone who is focused on giving back to his community, Moy is also an avid sneaker collector.
In 2011, Moy founded the Break Free Community Center with the mission of creating a structured and inspiring program for youth and young adults with a passion for hip hop culture. Three years later, the community center
transitioned into Break Free Hip Hop School, a program that offers classes focused in authentic hip hop culture programming (including break dancing, DJing, and street art).
In his visit with HEAT CHECK, Moy takes a dive into sneaker culture, discussing what he looks for in footwear, and what he admires about his favorite sneaker designers. He reminisces about his early days as a break dancer by showing off his Animal Instinct Jordan 3’s — sneakers that symbolize his “wild life.” He also gives a rundown of his favorite features and details of his AirMax 97’s, his Yeezy 350’s, and more.
